Supporting families in the DMV through Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum
My childbirth classes are taught in the privacy of your own home. I incorporate a mixture of learning styles to include hands-on practice that is rooted in my many years of study in this area. I strive to empower the families I serve with the knowledge and information they need to make informed decisions about the birth of their baby.
Each 6-hour class includes:
Understanding your birth options and birth planning
The basics of your antomy
The stages of labor
Comfort management techniques
What you can expect during birth
How to overcome roadblocks that may become present
Preparing for Postpartum
This class can be catered to your specific learning needs. I’m open to building a class that meets your family’s needs.

A dynamic, fun and experiential Childbirth Class that examines labor support techniques that really work. Exploring the joys and challenges of labor, this childbirth class empowers the birthing mother to labor and give birth at home, in a birth center, or in the hospital. Using a multi-sensory approach we examine the following topics: stages of labor; relaxation techniques, comfort measures and active birth positions; stages of labor; preparing your partner/support person for labor and birth; medications; active labor with an epidural; in the event of a cesarean birth; creating a birth plan; and postpartum adjustment. There will be a brief discussion on breastfeeding and newborn care. Mothers (and their support person) will learn through interactive and creative participation, in a spirit of fun and curiosity. Our course is balanced, down to earth, and non-judgmental.
